Mini quiches
Makes 12
Ready in 45 minutes
Price per serving 38p
4 spring onions, sliced 1tbsp olive oil 75g thick sliced cooked ham 4 Semi-Dried Tomatoes, drained 100g Cheddar 500g Ready To Roll Shortcrust Pastry Flour, for rolling out 2 large free-range eggs 200ml single cream
Preheat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/Gas 5. Before the children start cooking, get the filling ingredients ready for them. Fry the spring onions in the oil for 2-3 minutes until soft but not coloured. Cut the ham and tomatoes into small pieces and grate the cheese. Now it’s time for the children to take over.
Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface to the thickness of a £1 coin. Cut out 12 x 9cm or 10cm rounds with a cutter or bowl and put them into a 12-hole bun tin.
Put a little ham, tomato, spring onion and cheese in each pastry case.
Beat the eggs and cream in a bowl until evenly mixed. Season with black pepper, then pour into a jug.
Carefully pour a small amount of the cream mixture into each case until it almost comes to the top. You may have leftovers, which you can freeze ready to make more quiches later.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the filling is puffed up and the pastry is cooked. To freeze: pack into a rigid container and freeze for up to one month. Defrost, then heat through in a medium oven.
Variations You can make different fillings for the quiches. Try…
* Leaving the ham out for a vegetarian option.
* Using different cheeses such as blue cheese or Emmenthal.
* Replacing the ham with tuna, prawns or smoked salmon.

Ooey, Gooey, Weird, Evil, Gruesome Creatures! Wild out-of-control monsters! Fearful adventures!
If you’ve been tuned into the Spawn comics (and various spin-offs), film, TV series, and video game, then you know about the fascinating creatures and intriguing plots.
Background
Spawn debuted as an undead superhero named Albert Francis “Al” Simmons, alias Hellspawn or The One, in the comic Spawn #1 in May 1992. He and was created by Todd McFarlane. The original comics series was followed by several spin-off comics, a 1997 feature film, and an HBO animated series lasting from 1997 until 1999. The series of action figures produced by McFarlane Toys is known for high quality and fine detail.
Single or Multiple Figures
Besides single figures, McFarlane Toys offers bundles. For example, their Spawn: ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction bundles three highly detailed figures, and their Spawn Series 34 is a set of four figures. You can also find Boxed Sets.
Prices
Prices for Spawn action figures varies from three to two hundred thirty dollars or more, for a single figure. Various factors can drive up the prices, including being out of production, rare, or being highly detailed. That said, a lot of great Spawn figures are available for around the five to forty dollar range, for each figure.
Sizes
Many of the Spawn action figures are in the range of six to twelve inches tall, though smaller ones are also available. Some online sources provide little information about size, and you may need to inquire to get full data before you buy.
Sources
Sources or manufacturers of the figures include TMP International, Urban-Collector, and Amazon. It’s easy to find lots of Spawn action figures using the online search engines.
What to Watch Out For
While many of the figures are quite durable, some are not made to be toys. Some are fragile. Although some of the figures are capable of being bent into poses, they are not designed to be twisted and pulled a lot. So how do you tell which of the figures meets your intended use? Read available reviews and documentation before you buy! Alternatively, assume a figure is fragile and should not be used as a toy, unless you learn otherwise. These tips will help you avoid disappointment when collecting Spawn action figures.
Enjoy the Diversity
You will be delighted by the incredible diversity of Spawn action figures available on the market. Although they differ in size, detail, and fragility, most are colorful and pleasing. My favorite is the Malebolgia Action Figure from McFarlane Toys in their Spawn Series 23 Mutations line. Of course its form is grotesque and evil-looking. That’s what makes it so cool.

Animation and Disney Pixar fans everywhere absolutely love Toy Story 3, released in June 2010. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were both superb, and the overall quality of Pixar Animation Studio films are unsurpassed. No wonder we’re excited!
The basic plot for Toy Story 3 is that Andy has grown up and is getting ready to go to college. He must part with his toys and so he gives them to Sunnyside Daycare Center. It is at this daycare that all our old friends from the first two Toy Story films meet new characters.
Here is the list of new confirmed characters in Toy Story 3. The name in parenthesis is the voice actor (if applicable).
Dolly: (Bonnie Hunt) Dolly is a cute floppy felt doll who has big round eyes, purple hair and an orange dress with mismatched buttons. We get to see her with Trixie, Woody and Totoro at the computer in the trailer.
Big Baby: This is a giant doll that towers over the other toys at 18 inches tall. Big Baby is your classic baby doll who has a “magical” milk bottle that empties as you feed the doll. This baby’s been around the block a few times at Sunnyside Daycare, though. One of the doll’s eyes is permanently closed and the pen marks on the body remind me of a tough guy’s tattoos. What sort of role is Big Baby set to play in Toy Story 3? Sources say a more major role than we think.
Book Worm: He’s a cute nerdy little green worm who wears a bow tie and round glasses. Book Worm holds a flash light for you to read your books at night, after you’re supposed to be asleep. Seems like a mild mannered fellow.
Buttercup: (Jeff Garlin) Don’t be fooled by this pretty white unicorn with golden horn, mane and tail. Buttercup is really a male!
Chatter Telephone: Based on the real toy, Woody answers Chatter’s ring, and the phone says to him, “You and your friends ain’t never gettin’ outta here.” But he actually tries to help Woody and his friends.
Chunk: This is a rock monster-type toy with blue eyes and huge fists. He appears briefly in the Toy Story 3 trailer while Ken, Stretch and others are playing cards.
Jack-in-the-Box: (Director Lee Unkrich) Upon the arrival of Andy’s toys, the Jack-in-the-Box exclaims with joy “New toys!” This toy has a pointy blue hat and an orange and red striped springy body.
Ken: (Michael Keaton) He’s a man who is fashion conscious. Ken wears a blue short sleeved leopard print shirt with matching shorts and scarf. He instantly falls in love with Barbie, of course, when the two meet.
Lots o’ Huggin’ Bear: (Ned Beatty) This seems to be the leader of the Sunnyside Daycare toys. He’s an oversize stuffed purple bear who smells of strawberries and walks with a cane. He encourages Andy’s toys to be played with and seems to welcome them.
Mr. Pricklepants: (Timothy Dalton) A German-made hedge hog complete with traditional lederhosen and hat.
Peas in a Pod: This is an adorable plush toy that unzips to reveal three green happy-faced peas inside.
Peter and Lil: (Lou Romano and Elissa Knight) Two dolls at the Sunnyside Daycare Center who are briefly seen getting a nice massage from Stretch.
Sparks: Sparks is a retro-inspired blue and silver robot with red trim. He rolls around on tread wheels as he spits out sparks and has flashing red LED lights for eyes. Sparks can grab all sorts of things with his extending arms with pincer hands and he can extend his body, too.
Stretch: (Whoopi Goldberg) She’s a glittery, stretchy octopus with eight arms lined with suckers. She shakes hands when Andy’s toys arrive, and gives massages to a couple of other dolls and playing cards in another scene. But she’s clearly on Lotso’s side and has no sympathy for Woody and the gang.
Totoro: Famous character from the Studio Ghibili film “My Neighbor Totoro,” Totoro makes a cameo appearance as one of Bonnie’s toys at her home in Toy Story 3.
Trixie: (Kristen Schaal) Trixie is a blue triceratops dinosaur toy who likes to chat on the Internet. She’s a bit embarrassed when Woody discovers her online conversation and she says it’s just another dinosaur down the street. Maybe she’s a love interest for Rex?
Twitch: (Jeff Garlin) He’s part man, part insect. Twitch is a tall wrestler/warrior type of action figure, who is green, muscular, and carries a large club-like staff. Mrs. Potato Head is impressed with his physique as she rubs his arm.
Now that you know these new characters, you will have an even better time watching Toy Story 3 especially since you can see it anytime with the release of the BluRay and DVD.

GI Joe: A Real American Hero #155 ½
Writer: Larry Hama
Penciler: Augustin Padilla
Summary:
Cobra Commander wakes up from a dream of attacking the US Capitol Building. Zartan informs him that the Cobra-backed “Broken Star Army” has succedded in creating turmoil and unrest in the US by assualting several landmarks. With a master plan seemingly unfolding, Cobra Commander contacts the Jugglers and appears to be working in cahoots with them– all part of a plan to get martial law declared, enabling Cobra to gain more power in the US.
Billy, Storm Shadow and the Baroness are recalled from a mission to Trucial Abysmia to steal WMD’s. Billy is torqued off and is slapped into the Brainwave Scanner (now abbreviated as BWS). During so, Dr. Venom’s face appears on the BWS monitor screen. Dr. Mindbender discovers that Venom had a Trojan Horse program planted in the thing; but what it will do is still unknown. Meanwhile, the Baroness begins to worry that she’s due for another BWS session and questions Destro’s loyalty.
Finally, Cobra Commander sends out a signal to all “sleepyheads” around the US, activating hundreds of Crimson Guard sleeper agents.
Notes:
The inside cover page is a letter from IDW publisher Andy Schmidt, explaining their decision to bring back the old Marvel continuity. They’re picking right up where the old title ended.
This basically wipes out the Devil’s Due continuity…despite the fact that Hama wrote a rather awful 4-part “Mission that Never Was” in “GI Joe: Frontline”. I’m okay with that, since the Devil’s Due run was essentially fan fiction and a nostalgia kick. The guys involved were all big fans, so we can’t fault them for their efforts. But for now, they appear to be the Ripper Owens to Larry Hama’s Rob Halford.
Larry Hama answers a few questions from IDW forum posters in a “letters page” of sorts. Of note (to me, at least), Hama mentions that Carl Barks and the Disney Ducks are a favorite of his.
Also important that Hama notes the “Joe-verse” takes place in its own time/space vacuum. Which is a good way to avoid pesky things like “real world” aging or current events.
Dr. Mindbender upgrades Cobra Commander’s battle armor and gives him a new suit which resembles CC’s old “battle helmet/faceplate” look. Think of the original action figure.
Cobra still appears to be operating out of the Trans-Carpathia “Silent Castle”.
Baroness has a slightly modified new look. She wears a dark visor instead of glasses, and her jumpsuit is simplified (all of the ribbed lines and contours of her old leather cat-suit have vanished).
Storm Shadow’s back to a modified version of his original outfit, as well. It’s basically his original suit with grey shoulderpads added. Billy is wearing a white Storm Shadow-ish get-up as well.
Showing his old dental background, Dr. Mindbender also implants a BWS directive for Bily to floss his teeth everyday.
In a neat touch, we see that Cobra Commander sleeps with a half-mask, covering the top of his head to just past the nose.
Cobra Commander mentions the “new Springfields” across the US. Springfield was one of my favorite concepts from the original series, so I’m glad they’re including that.
Note that NO Joes appear. The Cobras mention that they’re aware of the team being deactivated, however.
Two “file cards” appear in the back of the book. One for Billy and the other for the Brainwave Scanner. Billy’s mentions that “Fred III” gave Billy his prosthetic leg. However, it was Fred VII. No-Prize Explanation: typo!
It’s common knowledge now (in 2010), but for the record, this book was given away as part of “Free Comic Book Day” on May 1, 2010.
Sure…I’ll keep doing updates and adding to this GI Joe Comic Index project. I seem to get lazy when it comes to adding non-Joe content, so I should keep these updated in a timely manner.

The Earth, Air, Water and Fire nations used to reside in concord, until the day that the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, who is a grasp of all 4 components, can supply any hope of bringing peace to the conflict-torn world now.
Avatar the Last Airbender facilities Aang, who had the supernatural capability to manage the air round – him. He was an Airbender, but the final of his kind. That was the rationale why he needed to save your entire world from the evil hearted hearth lord and finally end up the battle with the fireplace nation. This out of the bizarre plotline of this present is likely one of the most outstanding causes for its followers to browse the world of web to seek out Avatar the final Airbender toys.
One of the main plot factors from the primary season of the original present, Avatar: The Last Airbender by which seemingly evil Prince Zuko actually rescues Aang, the titular last airbender and savior of the world. This figure appears improbable with the detail on the Blue Spirit mask and the hair coming from it. The visual arts division for The Last Airbender will surely get an Oscar subsequent 12 months if the masks – from this toy is any indication.
Additionally from Avatar the final Airbender toys the first look at Aang’s glider, a contraption, that folds up into his employees that permits Aang to fly via the air as an airbender. Very like the original series, the glider’s folds and wings are orange in color. Sokka’s determine comes with a boomerang, a lot to fan’s delight as his humor with the boomerang will provide comedian reduction in the film, but in addition some butt kicking, as we noticed within the animated version of Airbender.
Thank goodness that a Katara action figure is current and it appears to be like excellent as well. This was one action figure from the unique line of toys in the animated series that many followers criticized for lacking. The toys from the animated collection had been all toys of male characters and never a single feminine character toy within the bunch. Katara’s hair is finely detailed as is the brown striping on her outfit. Viacom has finally performed justice with the toy line. Now we’ll see what the Toph and Azula action figures will seem like within the Airbender sequel.
This show could be simply touted as among the best animations aired ever that’s why Avatar the last Airbender toys are very popular. The anime collection is a chock-full of enjoyable and entertainment. Avatar the Last Airbender episodes are centered on life and occasions of a fictional character Aang who has set out on a mission to save the human race from terrifying Fireplace Lord. On the best way, he picks up a quite a few unrivalled abilities, which help him in outwitting essentially the most grotesque enemies.
That is also our first take a look at Appa and Momo, two animal mates of Aang who’s animal vocalizations will be executed by Dee Bradley Baker, the lone holdover from the animated series. Appa’s toy nearly appears to be like a six-legged pug crossed with a bear, however that would be a nice nod to Aang’s origins as a Buddhist-sort monk because the pug originated in Buddhist monasteries. Momo appears to be like like a cute and cuddly Mogwai on Aang’s shoulder.
